Viaje de Hermanos: Rome

And then it was off to Italy where Ben met up with us!

We all loved the impressive Colosseum.

There was so much to see in Rome!

Below are the ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina, where Julius Caesar was assassinated.

And here's Piazza Navona where we watched some street performers and admired all the artists selling their art.

There was bougainvillea everywhere, it was magnificent!

Tragically, the Trevi Fountain was under construction...

The Pantheon was really cool. I didn't realize before going that it's actually now used as a Catholic church.

We got some gelato and it was delicious. Jacob declared it "the best chocolate he's had in his life."

The Piazza de Popolo

And the Spanish Steps

So much sight seeing can really take it out of you so we made sure to plan a whole day to take the train to the beach and relax.

And then we spent a day at the Vatican!

Saint Peter's Basilica was absolutely amazing. The pictures really don't do it justice.

We went through the Vatican museums which include the spectacular Sistine Chapel. No photos were allowed in the chapel though so all of the following are of the rest of the museums. It was room upon room of beautiful art.

After our Roman holiday was over we flew to Marseille France where we all found the comfiest bit of airport floor we could and curled up for the night. The next day Ben and I took a bus to his mom's house in Saint Julien, and Joseph, Jacob, Christopher, and Jasmin caught the first of four flights of their journey home. It was so sad to say goodbye. After eight months of not seeing family it was absolutely amazing to have them here. Until next time hermanos!
