In addition to Tivoli Gardens, we did some exploring around the city.
We went to Christiania, a self proclaimed autonomous community of artists in Copenhagen. When you enter you pass through an arch that says "here there be dragons" and when you leave "you are now entering the EU."
You can't buy a house in Christiania, you have to apply for one. If they decide in your favor, they will just gift it to you. A community of artists, the houses there are pretty cool.
We walked around at night to check out the Christmas lights. The Nyhaven Canal was lit up for a Christmas market, though it was closed down for the day when we went.
This tree below is a part of an art installation throughout the city. Different artists painted the trees, and they were sold at auction. The money was donated to planting real trees.
This is Copenhagen Central Station.
We went into Fredrik's Church, also known as the Marble Church.
We walked in the Rosenborg Castle Gardens.
This is Rosenborg Castle which, unfortunately, we weren't able to go into.
We also went to the National Gallery of Denmark. It was a cold, rainy day, and spending the afternoon looking at paintings was perfect.
We went to the Rundetaarn, the Round Tower. It's a 17th century astronomical tower.
To go up the tower there is a spiral ramp built around a hollow core. They made a ramp instead of stairs so that horses could take books to and from the library and transport sensitive instruments to the observatory.
These elephants are holding up the Carlsberg Brewery. We just walked underneath, we didn't go inside.
We also went to the Fredriksborg Have park.
We found some pretty cool grafitti walking down Sonder Boulevard.
