Brussels, Belgium

We got so behind with the blog but we've spent the last two days organizing photos and we're ready to get caught up again! Way back in August we left beautiful Provence and headed north to Belgium. We spent a few days in Brussels exploring the capital of the European Union.

We really enjoyed our tour of the Royal Palace of Brussels. I've never seen so many chandeliers!

The Mirror Room was especially cool. The glittering green ceiling and chandelier are covered in the wing casings of 1.4 million Thai jewel beetles.

We popped into this pretty church while waling around.

Here's Manneken Pis, the famous statue of the pissing boy.

And the less famous but equally funny Jeanneke Pis, the pissing girl.

Of course we had to try the Belgian waffles! I got nutella and whipped cream and Ben got strawberry and chocolate.

Here is La Grand-Place, the main square. During the day it was filled with tourists admiring the beautiful architecture. At night all the buildings were lit up and the square was filled with people drinking and hanging out,

Belgium is known for it's good beer. Delirium is one of the more famous Belgian breweries, and it also happens to be one of Ben's favorite. We had fun hanging out in the Delirium Village and enjoyed the hops that you just can't find in Spain.

We went to see Atomium, which, like the Eiffel Tower, was constructed for the World Fair.

We also saw Mini-Europe! It was pretty cool to see the mini versions of places we've traveled to. Above is me sitting with the mini version of La Grand-Place in Brussels.

And here's Ben with mini Big Ben in London.

The Eiffel Tower and the Arch du Triomphe in Paris.

La Plaza de Torros

And below is the Szechenyi baths in Hungary. When we took this picture we had no idea that we would be going to those baths in just a few months.

Next to Mini-Europe was Oceade, an indoor water park. With Europe hitting record high temps, we took full advantage and spent the afternoon going down water slides.
